Training Progression
A structured training approach with various levels offers flexibility and greater recognition of the value and benefit of all the I.T.C. programmes. In house Instructors benefit from the qualifications gained and delivery is more cost effective to organisations with established trainer teams.
Basic User Course
Six hours duration - Annual Re-certification
Instructor Course
Twelve hours duration - Two year Re-certification
Candidate does not have to be certified as a basic user but should have basic DT instructor skills
Instructor/Trainer Course
Sixteen hours duration -Three-year re-certification
Must be a certified instructor and should be assessed carrying out an Instructor course over twelve hours with a further four hours additional training from a Master Trainer.
All courses include written and practical tests against set performance criteria. Instructor and Instructor/Trainer courses include trainer evaluation on teaching skills.
It is strongly advised that all of these programmes are complimented with basic training in 'use of force' issues and communication skills.
